PLEASE RETURN FOR UPDATES
This communication provides an update on recent developments within the club. As some of you may be aware, we currently have six filled board member positions, one fewer than the seven required by our existing by-laws for full operational capacity. Additionally, mandatory insurance costs have placed the club in a deficit for the current season.
However, your board of directors is embracing this moment as an opportunity for revitalization. We are excited to announce that the Branched Oak Yacht Club will undergo a period of restructuring throughout the 2025 season. The current board members are committed to collaboratively rewriting our by-laws and reimagining the club's structure. Our goal is to create a more inclusive environment for all participants at the lake and to strategically adapt our positions to reflect the significant evolution of the marina over the past three decades. We are dedicated to ensuring the club continues to grow and evolve alongside our cherished lake community.
Consequently, the club will not be sponsoring any events this year, with one important exception. This October, we will host a gathering at Branched Oak for all club members. At this meeting, we will present the proposed new and improved by-laws for a membership-wide vote, ensuring that our future direction is a collective decision. The involvement of our members is paramount, as the spirit and strength of the BOYC reside within our community.
We also want to highlight that Danni Huston will be taking the lead in sponsoring the Fire Fighters Fundraiser this year. Volunteer opportunities will be announced at a later date, pending scheduling and approval from Parks and Recreation. While this year's fundraiser will not be an officially club-sponsored event, this important tradition will continue. However, other events typically associated with the fundraiser will not be organized under the club's banner this year.
Despite these changes, we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to continue gathering at the pergola each weekend. We remain a close-knit family and look forward to sharing time together, enjoying the lake with food, fellowship, and fireside chats.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone back in the fall and are enthusiastic about the possibilities that the revitalized Yacht Club will bring for the 2026 season and beyond. We are committed to building an even stronger and more vibrant Branched Oak Yacht Club for all.
Sincerely,
The Branched Oak Yacht Club Board of Directors
